Re: Setting default save directory

There is NO "default directory" per se in XyWrite-- nothing at least
like the "My Documents\My Music\My Used Condems" silliness that
Windows afficianados are so accustomed to.

However, you can SAve or STore to a directory. Do either:

1) load your file from some directory -- assuming the XY3 directory
is in your path, in MS-DOS you can always start the program and load
the file from anywhere with something like "EDITOR x:/some_dir/any_file".
When you're done, just hit SA or ST. If you want, you can
save the file somewhere else with something like SA
y:/diff_dir/new_name.

If you use Windows, get the "ArgPrompt" utility from somewhere on the
'Net -- it's freeware, if memory serves -- and do the same. I.e.,
right click on XyWrite, and enter the filename (with drive and directory) in
the little box, and hit .

2) load the program, and then call the file you want to work on
with CA z:/itsa_dir/and_a_fi.le or something of the sort.
Again, SA or ST by themselves will put the finished textfile into
the directory you named.

Xylisters,

Here is a mind-numbingly simple question that I hope can be easily answered:

How does one set/change the default save directory in XyDos III+? Simply
typing SAVE/STORE and the desired filename saves in the Xy program directory
on the default drive. I would like to change that default directory so that
saved files and program files are in separate folders on the same drive.

Thanks much!
