Actually, I think the Wireless "division" was spun off completely and is
totally independent. AT&T got my goat by brutally laying off scads of
lower-level employees (with disastrous effects on the NJ economy) a few
years ago, while fat-cat execs padded their pensions (no, I'm not a
socialist, but neither do I support unbridled social Darwinian
capitalism). And there are other issues that no one else would care
about. But my friend does use it and is frustrated, so thanks for the tip
about WURD.
By the bye, I hear there's a new, much improved version of Opera out.
Have you tried that? The thing about the pages that don't work (one gets
them in Netscape too) is that many of the Web-creation tools are designed
to create pages that can only be viewed in Exploiter (why are we not
surprised?). Mac? Well, my brother, who worked on the big iron before he
retired, swears by them, but I like PC hardware (and it's not a monopoly:
why change from an opsys monopoly to a hardware and opsys one?) What I
keep hoping is that someone will port OS X (which is Unix, after all) to
Intel/AMD hardware.
Thanks for all the tips.
