I inquired of TTG as to the status of the P-L view problem in
4.016. Britt Forbes advised: "Development is still working on
the problem. They have not given a specific date for
completion of the fix, but I will inform you when it becomes
available." (Britt, if you are reading this, please post word
of the fix here so everyone will see it.)
I have dropped back to 4.015, as I need P-L view and 4.016 is
just too buggy in this regard (otherwise, it seems to be OK.)
There were some reports here of text being corrupted by this
problem. I have not seen that, exactly, but here's what may be
happening:
When P-L heads south, it sometimes stops updating the screen
even though the characters you enter at the keyboard, and the
commands you issue, are nevertheless being executed in the
document. I have had a few instances where screen update has
stopped and I have continued to work, overwriting or deleting
text unintentionally, and I was not immediately aware of what I
was doing.
Finally, a bit of XY4 DOS XPL trivia, figured out last night at
great expense (!): If you are executing a change command that
involves a hard return (010), you have to use a BC function
call; BX won't work.
