Subject: Xy4/DOS quirk?
Strange thing when I edit text in Xy4, and I just know I'm going to
feel like an idiot when one of you clues me in:
If I try to move forward or back one word at a time, using the ALT
key plus the left or right cursor, it works as it should until I
release the ALT key, whereupon an ASCII character is inserted at
the cursor position. (does it with ALT plus the up or down cursor,
too, for what it's worth, but I don't use that combination).
When using the right cursor, it's always the "spade" character
(ASCII 6), as in a deck of cards. When using the left cursor,
always the "diamond" (ASCII 4) character. ALT + [cursor down]
inserts that smiling ASCII 2, and ALT + [cursor up] inserts a
backspace.
I've lived with this, altered my habits to accomodate it for a
little while, but now I want to get that ol' Xy3 functionality
back. Seems as if it would be an easy fix, and I can't imagine how
it might be "not a bug, but a feature." Ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff
