I use XyWin v. 4.11, and both Append and SAS work instantly and perfectly.

In fact, so does most of the rest of the program. I don't format much -- I
write newspaper stories in a bureau, and send them over a modem to the main
office. For me, XyWin is the ideal Windows writing program, in that it
unobtrusively produces clean ASCII copy, is completely customizable, and
most importantly has a command line.
