David Firestone (fstone@xxxxxxxx)
says he uses XyWin v. 4.11, and both Append and SAS work instantly and
perfectly. He said

office. For me, XyWin is the ideal Windows >writing program, in that it

most importantly has a command line.
Those were the reasons I bought XyWin, except that I'm a free-lance.
After all the complaints about bugs and quirks that I've read since I
subscribed to the XyWrite mail list, it's reassuring to hear that another
professional writer has found it just what he needed.
Although I haven't tried it yet, I had often been told that publishers
like to get copy from XyWrite, because it can be fed straight into a
typesetting machine. Is that still true of 4.12W?
A feature that I like about XyWrite is the way it can read from and
write to so many word processing programs, from ancient WordStar versions
through Word 6.0Win and WordPerfect 6.0Win. I can output copy in whatever WP
program a client can use most readily.
But those rascals who bought and now publish the latter two apps keep
churning the market with new versions, loaded with useless (to me and to
most users) features, along with new complications of the interfaces to make
them slower-running and harder to learn. It would be keen if TTG could
supply patches, downloadable from their Website, to add the new versions of
widely-used applications to the ones XyWrite can handle.
Any chance of that happening?
And another question -- I have XyWin 4.12. Does it differ in any
interesting ways from 4.11?
