It's true that you don't have to remove DOS to use OS/2 and
dual-boot is a good option, but you might find it preferable
to install under what's called "boot manager." It would
probably mean restructuring your hard disk, but there is an
application out called Partition Manager which allows you to
do this without reformatting.
OS/2's Boot Manager places a 1-meg partition at the front
(or back) of your hard disk. This allows you to determine
which partition/opsys will be used for a session: when you
turn on your pc, you get a screen allowing you to choose
between DOS and OS/2. Typically, one would install OS/2
system files in your D: partition, and keep all your DOS
stuff in C: (since DOS has to boot from C: anyway).
Don't take my word for it -- but if you're considering
moving to OS/2, take a look at a book called OS/2 Unleashed.
