What I don't understand is why the DOS boxes,

I too have wondered about this and can't seem to find the thread that
talks about adding fonts when one wants to run XyDos in a W98+etc window,
which, given the way the laptops produce only a 2/3 to 3/4 dos screen, is
perhaps the most effective way to use XyDos in a laptop.

http://michael.norman@xxxxxxxx/.norman@nyu.http://michael.norman@xxxxxxxx/PS to CD: Successfully updated U2, but following instructions for new
settings and changed settings in the settings.dfl, lost the *today*
command and can't quite figure which setting caused the tiny
problem.
PS to list: Surveyed all the text retrieval programs mentioned. dtSearch
seems to be the best, has a Xywrite filter, and, I think, can be linked
to XY, if their tech support lends a bit of help. Also looked hard at
Biblioscape, very useful. With the Dos/Windows Rexx U2 solution to
clipping, should work okay. Thanks again to all for suggestions.
