The job of writing drivers for hardware really belongs to the
manufacturers of that hardware -- that's how it usually is done.
IBM has done a fantastic job, IMO, of providing drivers for OS/2
for many of those too slow in doing them themselves, but they can
hardly do so for every last oddball piece of hardware. If a SCSI
card or drive doesn't meet specs, then it's on its own, really.
Moral: Don't buy weird hardware -- but that's a general problem
with all Gateway's stuff for the past several years. You never
know what you will get in the box, or what it will work with.
