xywrite and postscript

I was intrigued by adpFisher's recent comments on XyWrite and Post Script.
Can those of you who are using XyWrite with Post Script printers tell me what
advantages I and other "XyWhiners" might realize by taking this route?
When shopping for a new printer would it make more sense to go with PS
than something for which no printer driver currently exists?
Any adivce would be appreciated.
