INTERESTING RUMOR....

The following item appeared appeared in this week's Infoworld:

"Continuing the spirit of buying rather than building, look for IBM to announce
a new word processing software in January, replacing the snail-like
DisplayWrite. The new $495 package may be called Signature, Wordsmith, or
Wysiwrite (those are the names I've heard), but what's lurking under the hood
is strictly XyWrite 4.0, bunlded with Word for Word and Inset's Hijaak file
converter. The first version will be for DOS (using 384K), followed by Windows
and PM versions. Don't look for a version under the Xyquest name, as IBM has
bought all rights to Version 4.0 and above. Xyquest retains rights to Xywrite
3.5."

Well, now THIS is certainly an interesting development. Does this mean the end
of XyWrite as an independent product? Has the XyQuest we know and love been
swallowed up by Big Blue? Will our long-awaited XyWrite IV now come out as an
IBM-only product?

I guess we'll just have to stay tuned for further details.
