OK, I'm begging

Hi Xywriters, old and...nah, just old...

I have downloaded XY4, after being convinced by Harry, et al, that I shouldn't muck about in 3, and
need to get up to speed with 4 in a hurry.

I would buy Notabene, but this would be the third time I've bought it, and I'm damned if I'll do
that again.

I am a very overloaded doctor who just needs to get this sucker working, so I can write some simple XPL programs to do fast assembly of notes (savegets) into chart entries for documenting the (frequently repeated) procedures I do, along with XPL changing of into various patient-specific details, along with inserting coding for billing, etc, etc.

I just don't have time to parse this out on my own...I've just wasted two hours reading all the
README's and trying to figure out what the bloody hell the U2 thing is all about - which I don't
think I need anyway, I just wanna write some highly custom XPL's - and trying to remember how to
setup STARTUP.INT (I have COMPLETELY forgotten, except I do have a vague memory that once upon a
time I WAS a whiz at setting up my STARTUP.INT to do precisely what I wanted it to do), and trying
to go back into the archives of this list to find out how to make it go full-screen instead of
half-screen, and I haven't even attempted to figure out how to make this work with whatever printer
I'm going to use...

...and I simply have to have telephone help or:

A: give up and just resign myself to the menu-driven EMR from Sonora Quest (oh, the horror, the
horror) or:

   B: slit my wrists.

Right now, it's a toss-up.

I would gladly pay someone by the minute to just walk me through the process so I can get the heck
to work on the actual work I need to get done, rather than all this stumbling around trying to
remember how to be a computer nerd again...which was always pretty iffy to start with; once we got
past punch-cards in Fortran in 1969, I have been pretty much faking it ever since, and now senility
is starting to set in, but I'm a helluva good doc...so would someone who knows their stuff please,
pretty please, on bended knees begging, with strawberry jam on top, PM me and let's set up some
phone consults I will gladly pay for so I can get back up to speed? I know I can make Xywrite my
best bud for what I want to do, but first I have to get reintroduced to all the setup stuff and
basics of XPL-writing so I'm back on a first-name basis with my old friend...

...and if you wish to copy everything you tell me to do, to this list, so others can benefit, it's
fine with me, I just need help, and one dumb question at a time by email is far too slow...

Best Regards, Dr Knouse
