Jordan is write--whoops, right. There are a lot of programs that
creat and maintain directory files, and I have tried them. The
advantage of the PC-Write ED.DIR file is that, first, by
associating *.DIR with the application, when I click on the
ED.DIR file in any directory, it opens and is automatically
updated. Second, once it is open, is is running an excellent word
processor, and I can add or subtract notes, etc., with the
greatest of ease. The 4DOS DESCRIPT.ION file is not that easy to
use as a combination of updated directory and personal help file.
Third, I have other uses for PC-Write, so it is worth keeping on
my computer.

I discovered last week that the last DOS version of
Norton Utils is not usable with current computers with 6GB hard
disks, much less those formatted in FAT32. At least I *think*
that's why attempting to run SI crashes my computer.
