Tim:
My quest, under NT, has been just the opposite: to launch a Windows
program from the CMline *without* locking Xy4. My experience has
been that, with or without Start, Xy4 remains immobilized until the
launched program exits -- a major nuisance. A salient exception is
that, when an instance of Netscape is already running, launching
additional browser windows from the CMline does *not* lock Xy.
That's what I want to be able to do across the board: launch a
Windows (or DOS!) program as a discrete process (not "shelling" on
top of Xy), then Alt-Tab back to Xy and continue working. Do-able?
As far as I can tell, the answer is No.
