Why settle for just bookmarks?
You can back up all the Firefox settings with MozBackup:
http://www.mozbackup.org/
It makes a little *.pcv file that you can copy onto (in my case) a thumb drive and restore or move to new machine. Recently it proved quite handy when I mistakenly deleted all my saved passwords with one click.

bookmarks.html
go to
c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\51qr442j.default\
the last dir is random named
