Re: Xydos to Quark?

Judith,
Business Week is the beta site for a new version of Quark (5.0?
the logon screen says "QuarkCopyDesk 2.0"), and I have no trouble
with XyDos files. Heck, I ever wrote a little macro to transform
Xy modes (ital, bold, and reverse) to/from Quark (ital, bold, and
"comments")--but QCD seems to have changed slightly with the last
update, and the macro now works only from Quark to Xy. Haven't
attempted to figure out why, but will at some point.

I know nothing of previous versions, but with the QCD beta
we're using, you don't SEND ascii to Quark; you IMPORT it--by
clicking on "get text" in the "file" menu.
  Couple minor pointers:
When submitting a file to an editor, send it as an attachment.
Some email programs automatically format the body of a message,
adding CRs after XX characters--and this does cause problems,
because Quark sees each line as a separate paragraph.
Thus, paragraphs should not begin with an indent, either
spaces or a tab. Quark (the QCD version, anyhow) automatically
indents after a CR. So just delete indents from the command line
before you submit.
The filename should have a .txt extension; anything else (even
no extension) requires an extra step or two.
