It will be a couple of days before I can get to it, but I will try. One thing I can say now --
Robert's instructions included issuing the command through a file in the C:\ directory named
LOGIN.CFG with the contents, on my machine, roughly like this
net use \\LPT1\TP20\HPLASERJ /persistent:[?]
where TP20 is the computer and HPLASERJ is the printer. AND! [?] in my setup is now "no"
but probably in Robert's instructions was "yes"
by way of explanation, I mostly use the real LPT1, because I can with my current HP 1320 conected by
a parallel cable. I found that with LOGIN.CFG and a WiFi connection or a direct USB connection that
there was a delay printing the first page. Annoying (though no more than that) I also found that
if LOGIN.CFG was in my root directory (with persistent:yes) I couldn't
make it stop. So I did some experiments and ended up with "persistent:no" for some reason
I don't remember. And finally I just renamed the file LOGIN.000 so it would be there without
loading every bootup. My intention is to reactivate it when I again need to use USB or WiFi to
print.
Now that the request has been made I will try to do some experiments, but won't have the time till
midweek, earliest.
