Thanks, everyone. The U2 routine soved the problem nicely. Or rather, I
simply assigned the addition function to another key. It turned out that
once I got U2 loaded, the Fn key had no scan code, but Fn+numlock
generated a four-digit scan code and temporarily locked up XyWrite. The
real problem was loading U2 on my laptop, because my e-mail reader had so
scrambled the instruction file that it gave me an erroneous command for
loading U2 to a help key. I finally realized that all the other
macro-loading commands were different and edited accordingly.
Michael, the floppy must be Mac-formatted, and you'd have to have a
special utility to read that. There used to be one called Mac-In-Dos, and
I think DataViz maintains one for current OSes. There is NO WAY a Wintel
PC can read a Mac-format floppy: it's not just different file formats;
the whole drive geometry and file structure are different. Macs can read
PC floppies, and even format a 1.4 Mb floppy as a PC floppy and write
data to it, but very few Mac users ever get it right. (I think they make
one last save to the disk, and that converts it to Mac format. Whatever.)
