John,
Courier can indeed be problematic if you are using a PostScript printer.
You could try to rename the Courier font to something else but, if the
the internal PostScript name of the font is Courier, you may still be in
trouble. The printer drivers may be very difficult to persuade to print
the correct font. I have made my Courier fonts with different names to
avoid a collision with the font substitution mechanisms that are
inhererent in using Courier. You need font editing software to do this
properly, i.e. change all references to plain Courier to something else.
The internal Adobe Courier is a lighter font than most other variants.
Best regards,

A really odd thing on my XP machine (unlike the Win7 Pro system) is
that, no matter what the /F command may say, vDosxy produces the same
Courier font, but I can't for the life of me identify it. It doesn't
closely resemble any installed font. All I can think of is, Adobe
Acrobat is somehow supplying it.
