I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I know that there are at least a few of us that are using XY on a Mac via Virtual PC. I just wanted to reaffirm that I am using XY, under IBM's DOS 2000, via Virtual PC 6.0. (The last version before MS bought Connectix.)
Thanks for the 2 cents - Great posting Russ. I too am one of the ones
on the list who uses Xy on a MAC. I am using VPC 6 and IBM DOS 7.0. I
am operating Xy on my PowerBook Titanium G4 and the really cool thing
is that you can cut and paste between Mac programs and Xy just by point
and click. It's just unbelievable.
While i have a G4 cube that i paid a lot for. My current machine for
personal use is a Powerbook Pismo that i bought used on ebay for
around $600 dollars. I mention this as most people automatically
assume a Mac is extravagantly priced.
This has been a great laptop for me. I take it to work and use it
there and at home. I run the latest version of OS X (10.3.3). I am
connected wirelessly on a 802.11G connection. I am doing my work using
XY that i convert to Framemaker via a script i wrote, all on a G3
400Mhz CPU.
I actually got Xy running wonderfully on a $20 PowerBook 100 laptop via
SoftPC emulating a 286MHz PC, proving as you stated, you don't have to
go with the most expensive MAC out there to run XY in a DOS box. I
haven't tried to operate on my PowerBook Lombard G3 which is using OS
9.2 but that may be my next experiment.
Xy is in its own DOS window and the speed and response is wonderful. I am able to use the tools i love and am also able to show MS that i am not happy with their products and their business practices, and still able to do my job, using the tools i love, and much more!

This has been my experience as well.
