Markup.pm hung mysteriously--just once

I've been using markup.pm daily to put in open and close quotation marks, and it works beautifully.
But today I applied it to a 400-word piece and it hung up, hourglassing until I hit CTRL--ScrLk and
stopped it (Y). At that point, the error line popped up: 0/746 (or possibly 0/740) . It didn't
crash XY4. I opened the file tried running markup.pm again. Same thing.
I Quit XY4, reopened it, and then markup.pm worked without incident. There weren't even any
asymmetrical pairs. And I haven't been able to replicate the hangup. So I merely note the behavior
as a curiosity rather than anything approaching a problem.
What else was open: two other XY files (the unmarked-up versions of the same piece), Firefox, Cisco
VPN client, possibly Eudora and background Kaspersky Antivirus, all of which have been cohabiting
with XY4 many times. The Markup.pm version is 8/15/08, 3123 bytes.
Anyway, presented for your consideration, as Rod Serling used to say, in case it helps with any
further tweaks. Feel free to ignore it as well.
Markup.pm remains a godsend.
