Sorry, I do believe I understood, and still understand.
What I meant, if it wasn't clear, was that I prefer to stay
anchored as much as possible in a fullscreen Xywrite session
and that I don't mind anything about Alt-Escaping out of it
except it's uncomfortable.

I know it's possible to set them all different per session,
and I also know that many people suggest it's better for the
pc to keep it on all the time and I have considered it, but
for a number of reasons I turn it off when I leave it for
more than an hour and when I go to bed.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on this, I forgot the term for the
kind of app I had in mind: a "hotkey" application is what I
meant. FWIW the one that I use is called "Jumpkey," and
it's firstrate -- and free.
