And then of course there was Cartwright the cart wright, and Chandler the
chandler, and Forester the wood gatherer, and Miller the miller, plus quite a
few others too. Not to mention Mr. Cooper, the Dickens who were all related to
Dick, the Cleveland plowman, the Congreve thatch and thicket guy, Mr. Wells the
diviner, and more.
Is there something surprising about this? Isn't _every_ surname derived from
personal associations?
