Neither do I. It's an NT thing.

I don't. There are much better ways to discourage DOS programs than to
introduce a subtle issue like this, which isn't even very apparent or intrusive
(to my eye). There is also much counter evidence, e.g. introduction of
compatibility mode in NT, specifically intended to enable a broader range of
legacy DOS apps.

Yup, I can confirm that that's what I said, in the plainest English. Look, it
seems to me that we're going round and round on this, repeating ourselves
endlessly, to no point. If someone would like to lucidly summarize the
remaining issues post-Tame (which I thought were very few, just a couple of
cursor keys -- big deal), or summarize the progress of their conversations with
David Thomas, or doggedly prosecute this to a satisfactory conclusion with
someone capable of fixing it, then maybe we'd be done with it at last. All
this talk of AMD and refresh rates and the breathtaking lengths people are
willing to go to resolve this thing (VPC!!) and blah blah blah, is ridiculous.
It's patently obvious what the problem is: the screen isn't getting updated.
You can SEE that happening! Just get David to fix it, and the ordeal will be
over.
