Re: the first Xy

Many thanks to Tim Baehr for his lucid condensed early history of Xy.
I came into the family in 1985 with version 2+, upon retirement from Ency.
Brit. There, as exec ed, I had used its adaptation of ATEX (running on a mini
in a clean room), since 1977 when the first revision of the 15th edition
started.

So upon retirement, Xy was a lead-pipe cinch for a non-programmer
writer-editor to use at home.
