-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Jordan, I am still running Win8.1 and do not intend to upgrade/update it. There are two primary channels of attack: via web browser, and via email. If you keep your web browser up-to-date, and don't surf to dubious web sites, you have 90% of the security any newer firewall (e.g., Windows10 Defender) would provide anyway. As for email, I highly recommend MailWasherPro from Firetrust: https://www.firetrust.com This allows you to see what emails are on your server, including whether attachments are on board, and to delete any suspicious emails and their attachments on the server. They never get onto your harddisk. The big disadvantages of AV software are: 1) you have to keep upgrading the definitions to match new previously unseen viruses, and 2) they work only after you've downloaded the nasties onto your harddisk. MailWasher deletes them from the server, which is much the better solution, and once MailWasher is installed you don't need to upgrade anything. You just need to be circumspect about not letting emails from unknown users onto your system. I attach a screenshot of MailWasher. You can set blacklists and friends' lists, filters, and you can bounce spam. Bouncing means that the sender receives a faked error message from the server indicating that your email address does not exist. Some spam-robots will then remove your eddress from their databases. Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. <MD FL> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG/MacGPG2 v2.0.20 (Darwin) iEYEARECAAYFAl3qo7wACgkQX649Xsf0ar2pxgCeOX2HSqJQFV4HWenYM2KzanKi wqoAnj3548tsxI5fFbeAQ5vWkEWyNhg5 =kWF3 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
