Working with a new version of the EM distro, I have lost my keyboard
mappings which is good and bad.
What is good is that the six shortcut keys Ed specifies for Mac, now
WORK.
What is bad is, of course, that I no longer have CMD working as the
DOS-Ctrl.
If I just follow the steps which have been suggested before - - simply to
add the remapping - - absolutely nothing happens.
I am wondering if there isn't a fundamental conflict between my
goal of remapping CMD and Ed's very particular use of CMD for the
shortcut keys. He uses it for those keys, but otherwise it is a dead key.
But to attempt to map it, in his distro, to MOD1, results in nothing.
I have now found a way to make it all work - - apparently.
If, in REMAPPER, I keypress Mac control as the key I want to change
(CNTRL and MOD1 will be highlighted in white), and then click add,
nothing will happen. But if I use the cursor to click on CTRL (which will
now be highlighted in green), with NO Mod1 highlighted, then it works.
Something else remarkable. All of a sudden, getting a network directory
listing was very slow and is now faster. But not always.
Finally, I don't understand cmd-opt-F10, capture/release mouse. What does
this mean and how and why would I use it?
It's a great relief to have a workable XyWrite on the latest Mac.
Now if only there could be a workable version of Eudora/Hermes . . . . .
