Re: Reverse engineering - confirmed for version 3!

The answer to our prayers might be AI. I use it all the time to create Python scripts. The first 9 iterations are wrong in one way or another. But the 10th! And every month the agents get better.
In terms of coding afresh, in some modern
language, If we ask what is it that makes XyWrite
so great for us. I'd say XPL/U2. Plus command-line driven operation.
So couldn't AI build a text editor that could
take our XPL/U2 as is? Carl already has given us
a substitute for the command line, written in AutoIt.

I will look into this with Claude and ChatGPT.

Hello all,

XY3 and/or NB3 are not buggy to an extent that needs very much attention. To be of any use, the source code should be documented, a vast task I would surmise.

a clean-room copy that would produce similar

good modern editors abound (and open-source

reinvent the wheel. (EditPad mimicks XyWrite

stripped-down version of NB dubbed XY5 or
something else, I would be totally amazed. It
was discussed in 2019. It is probably just a château en Espagne.
