Re: T/OT: Vibe coding a Windows notes app with Claude

Lots of new additions/improvements to the QuickNotes app. The updated script is here:

https://ammaze.net/xywwweb/dls/quicknotes.py

Save the script to a directory of your choosing. At a Windows command prompt, enter

In the menus, "Help, Usage" displays a detailed help screen.

I'll let Claude himself summarize the changes and toot his own horn:

What started as ~30 KB of "Markdown notes with a sidebar" is now ~125 KB of polished
editor with tabs, themed syntax-highlighted preview, clickable hyperlinks, a Windows command runner
with three execution modes (dialog auto-run, inline-into-note, current-line variants), a font picker
covering every installed font, line numbers that handle word wrap correctly, light/dark themes, both
plain-text and Edge-headless styled PDF export, persistent window geometry and options, full
command-line options including a portable mode, brand auto-derivation from the filename, and a Help
page that actually documents all of it.

What I [Claude] think is genuinely nice about how it turned out:

- One file, standard library only - anyone with Python on Windows can run it, share it, or fork it

- It debugs itself out loud - the status bar tells you what every action did, with concrete indices
and exit codes

- It degrades gracefully - no Edge? plain-text PDF still works. No tkinter? clean error. No browser
for hyperlinks? webbrowser.open just opens the system default.

- The notes are plain Markdown files; if you ever stop using QuickNotes, your data is just there
