Xy without vDosPlus/DOSBox-X ?

Here is a project for anyone on this list who uses Claude Code.

An open-source project on GitHub called msdos-player is here:

https://github.com/cracyc/msdos-player
It lets you run some 16-bit DOS programs without a separate emulator, and lets you combine the msdos.exe program with the 16-bit app so that you have a single program than runs in Windows 11. It doesn't need a separate emulator like vDosPlus or DOSBox-X.
Claude Code fixed various bugs in the program for me, and now I can run
the Word for Word converters, the WordPerfect editor, the WP
printing-definition programs, and WordPerfect itself as 64-bit
applications. There are limits to what it can do; no shelling out to
DOS, no graphic mode, but basic editing works very well. And I suspect
that Claude Code can suggest ways to fix the limitations.

The source code for the Claude-Code extended version is here:

https://github.com/emendelson/msdos-player

And an executable is here:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/aopw676g4klrcd45ei4ug/msdos.exe?rlkey=spv7x5z5noincqtwimx6dp4pw&dl=1
The bad news is that when I try to run Xy4 wiith msdos.exe, every keystroke gets entered twice, so the command line reads "ccaa" instead of "ca". My guess is that Claude Code can fix this, and if anyone on this list is adept with Claude Code, it might be worth trying. I don't have any use for a native version of XyWrite, so I don't want to spend time and money on it, but I hope this might be a very rewarding exercise to anyone who might want to use the results.
