Aloha, Reading this chain about settings--- what would be super cool (and maybe already possible?) would be to embed xyscript commands /within/ a document and have these executed when a file is loaded. That way the document would in effect be able to ensure its own settings on an individual basis. This is not without complications particularly the danger of inadvertent conflict with things already loaded, or the potential persistence of settings from one appropriate document to another inappropriate one. I am (what else) borrowing the concept from Emacs, where there are per-buffer settings (for simplicity think of a buffer as a loaded file) and the abililty to execute elisp code within the file upon loading. Just as an irrelevant aside; it's interesting that xyscript has xywrite(n) as not exactly an antecedent but at minimum a major inspiration. Xywrite was of course billed as a word processor. Xyscript of course now goes well beyond that but still has word processing features (thankfully minus the million printer config files). I would say xyscript is now about 90% editor at heart. -- Bob Newell Honolulu, Hawai`i - Via GNU-Linux/Emacs/Gnus/BBDB
