I don't know of anything more capable than LaTeX, at the cost of often being quite difficult to use. There are literally thousands of LaTeX packages that do anything you can imagine.ith hundreds of diagrams and graphics. I've learned to do book jackets ande's a reason why full-time professionals (I consider myself only semi-pro if that) mostly use InDesign; LaTeX typesetting is time consuming.

I have now looked into Typst and read opinions --- it is much much easier to use but at this point doesn't have the vast variety of packages accessible with LaTeX. So I think the bottom line is that Typst is as good as LaTeX, and much easier to use, until you get into projects with really complex and specialized requirements.

And as a final note--- I simply feel obliged to add this non sequitur---- Word is NOT a typesetting program.
