My previous laptop was a second-hand Thinkpad (ancient model). and when I got it, I downloaded all the drivers and utilities from IBM's site. One had to install some of them to get, e.g., a PCCard to function.
As for Norton, I'd blame it, not the other guy. Symantec's libido
dominandi makes BBBG look like Uriah Heep.
