Off topic: travel with high tech

Could any more experienced travelers on this list tell me which of our
high-tech tools it is safe to send through the airport X-ray scanners? I
know the security myrmidons have to look at one's laptop. But what about
PDAs and cell phones? Must they be removed from one's
purse/briefcase/carry-on and placed in the hand-around basket? What about
ATM-debit-credit cards? I've always put that in the basket, because I
once--no, twice--had such a card get zapped by a swipe reader with too
much coercivity, wich made me very paranoid about their susceptibility to
EMR.
