INstall

I saw Ted Stannard's XyDos installation problems here, and although I've
been using the program for a while, I have not had to install it in some
time, but now do on an additional computer. I too have forgotten those very
first steps, and went to the Xywweb site, but could not negotiate the
archive files to find the answer. So perhaps two questions: 1. To install
4.018 on a WIN98 platform, as I remember, one has to interrupt the WIN
bootup routine by using one of the Function keys to get the menu that
allows you go into a DOS mode or pure DOS, but I can not remember which
F-key to hit and which mode to use to install. Then you just follow the
usual XyDos installation routine, then find the program with Explorer,
right click to get the properties and set up the characteristics to your
liking. Again, I don't remember the F-key during boot up to get all this
started or the right mode. 2. If this information is in the archives (and
it must be) how does one find the right file...or does someone off-hand
know which of those files to open.
On an unrelated question, I use NB to convert XyDos to WinWord. The NB
save-as window is easy enough and the conversion seems to work. But when
you open the converted file in Word97, then make changes and try to save
it, it tells you the file, in effect, has been imported in Word2 format and
asks if you want to convert to Word97. It appears that NB is not saving the
file according to the settings it promises.
Finally, I know Carl D and company are working on a way to go from XyDos to
Win clipboard and I wondered how the work is coming.

Thanks.
