missed the trapeze

I'm a marginally cyberliterate XYWrite-addict who lurked on this listserv
from the American University in Cairo until I retired at the end of
summer.

I then packed up all my original software, made CD or ZIPdisk copies of my
desktop hard disc, let go in Egypt, swung home to the Pacific North West,
and haven't even lurked during the intervening weeks, being preoccupied by
packing, unpacking, medical checkups, buying a whole new
supplier-installed desktop system (PentiumIII-750, 19GB, Win98 2nd
Edition, etc.), and then last week taking five days out for unanticipated
triple by-pass surgery.

In the swing between systems, however, I didn't get a good grip on the new
trapeze bar. The system wouldn't fully install XYWrite for Windows from
the original software, nor did trying to copy over from the portable
backup disks work. Couldn't get the full typeface range I relied on in
Egypt, and raised message objectionss during the installation process that
my computer-savvyer service guy couldn't solve.

Before boring you with further details yet, does anyone have quick-fix
suggestions or know where to look for them? I haven't had the energy to
reexamine the problem until this week, but getting my XYWrite back up to
speed is second in priority only to doing the same for myself.

I haven't read the list for over a month, so my apologies if similar
problems have been recently covered. Appreciate it if any respondents
treat me as a bit simple-minded -- patient by-the-numbers suggestions.
Body & mind are both regaining vigor by the day, but this is only the
ninth day, so both tire quickly if over-challenged.
