Experimenting with VA$GM is difficult and interesting.

GM128 is: "Spell or search has highlighted a strong"

I assigned the F12 key to display VA$GM128:
88=bx,v,a,/,n,v, ,$,g,m,1,2,8,q2
I never see anything but zero, even when running the spell-check, which
GM128 is supposed to flag.
I wrote this little program to attempt to "catch" spell-checking in action,
without having to disturb it by hitting a key. But I never get anything but
a zero value for $GM128:
