The way to get back to something resembling pure DOS in Windows 95 and 98
is to re-start Windows in DOS mode. Then you ought to be able to install
XyWrite. But there's one other problem, which has been discussed
previously on this list, and that is that the Xywrite 4 install program
tends to fail when run on a computer that has a CD-ROM drive enabled. So
you need to edit either your autoexec.bat or config.sys file, so as to REM
out any line which loads a CD-ROM driver. You can re-enable the CD-ROM
after XyWrite is safely installed.

If REMing out the driver doesn't work, you'll have to open up the box and
disconnect the CD-ROM drive, then reboot and install XyWrite, then
re-connect the CD-ROM and reboot again.
