This laptop does have drivers for XP (I made sure of that before
I bought it), but a shrink-wrapped copy of XP (OEM copies are,
under the EULA, which Product Activation enables M$ to enforce,
nontransferable: when the PC you bought them for dies, so does
the license) is pretty pricey, so I thought I'd see how bad Vista
is first. And so far Xy is working nicely.
For desktops, I ALWAYS buy built-to-order bare iron and install
the opsys myself. Several local dealers will give you a good
choice of components, and I like to support small
business--though I once got stung with a couple of guys who were
either idiots or crooks, or maybe both.
