Glad it got fixed in time, but for the record, another flipped bit that
can cause this problem is the archive bit. For some reason, XyWrite
apparently interprets it as equivalent to Read-only. To fix it, go to a
DOS prompt and type
attrib -A d:\folder\*.*; if you have subdirectories in there, add a space
and /S after *.*

A pity while you were at it you didn't get the tech guy to partition your
hard drive and create a separate logical drive for your data. Or even
two, one for DOS apps and one for data. Try that next time; with ME,
there will be a next time, alas.
