The NI command, to quote Douglas Adams, is "mostly harmless." It is usually
assigned to ALT+ keys on the number pad to prevent XyWrite from executing
stuff at the system level. The in-house mnemonic for NI at Xyquest was
"NotIBM". And no, I don't know of any cases where it is not harmless.
