Wildcard behavior different in SE and CI

I found that this would find a "hit"

SE /"[3][X]2.HIDE[W][CRLF]/
where the stuff in square brackets are wildcards, but this returned "Cannot
find item":


CI /"[3][X]2.HIDE[W][CRLF]/xxx[CRLF]/

Nor does this, which has the same wildcards for the find and the replace:

CI /"[3][X]2.HIDE[W][CRLF]/"[3][X]xxx[W][CRLF]/
The Command Reference Guide says that wildcards work the same in SE and CI,
but apparently not.


Any thoughts?
