There was some talk on the NotaBene list recently about func SL or
SF being unreliable in NBWin. For all I know, the roots of this go
back to Xy4 (not sure if SL and SF were available in Xy3). Though I
see its potential uses, the idea of blindly SAving or SToring files
not visible in the current window has never appealed to me.

You could try an XPL workaround that executes a straight SAve or
STore command in each window with an open file. Decode the
following (DECODE) and CoPy it into U2. (Don't try to SAve
or STore U2. Issue LH, then ABort the file.)

The commands are SAVEALL or STOREALL. For the
keyboard file:

nn=NOXHJM2,.,s,a,v,e,a,l,l,Q2
nn=NOXHJM2,.,s,t,o,r,e,a,l,l,Q2

The routine exits midstream if it encounters an Untitled file or a
secondary copy of a file requiring manual entry of a filename, or if
the SAve or STore operation triggers an error.

Hope this helps.
