footnote/column bug

Have any of you run across a bug using footnotes in snaking columns? I haven't
been able to trace all the possibilities, but when I format a document for two
snaking columns, footnotes longer than one line are often truncated if they are
entered in the first column. I cannot always predict when it will occur,
although I am certain it is not random.
This has occurred with XyDOS 4.015 and XyWin 4.11.
Has anyone had this problem? Have you found a way to solve it?
