Re: the next new pc

re build your own, http://www.tomshardware.com is a *great* source of
up-to-date impeccable information; re backup, I don't trust either
superfloppies or tapes, or anything purely magnetic: optical or
magneto-optical is the way to go, or the related technology which is
turning into everyone's favorite: CD-R. Just about bulletproof, cheap (they
give away the Cd-R blanks and a recorder is under $200 now) ..... who could
ask for more? A few analysts have predicted that Cd-R would be the next
floppy replacement. I'm with them. In Japan all the smart users use
optical/magneto-optical for backup and PD, DVD-RAM and MO are very popular
formats. Why are Americans so cheap when it comes to backup? I've never
understood.
