XyWrite Restricted

I have been challenged by someone who claims that the test of a good
wordprocessing program is its ability to imput data, save it and call up a
file with only a few programming files such as the execute program and
perhaps one or two other programs. In taking up this challenge, I have used
only XyWrite's editor file and the kbd file. In the startup file, I have
loaded a shorthand file with its expansions, a program to define text, and
also a file that will expand shortforms as he was interested to know that if
he imputs the shortforms into his Palm Pilot and he ports it over to the
XyWrite program will it be able to expand those shortforms.

In trying to run XYWrite with such few programs, my main concern is that
the typing stutters along. Letters do not appear immediately on the screen
as you type but there is a delay before you see the entire word. This also
happens on the command line. The other thing that does not happen is that
when you call up a directory it does not appear in alphabetical order. Do
rectify this I have to resort to the define program and the sort command.

My question therefore is to know why the typing stutters and the
directory is not alphabetized? And also what other XyWrite program will
rectify this defect.

The shorthand program, I am pleased to report did expand, those from the
Palm Pilot.

He introduced me to Tungsten - the most up-to date Palm. It has such a
clear screen that you can work on it in a dark room, otherwise its features
are similar to all the other models.
