Do I detect some sarcasm? Well, it's a reasonable assumption. After all, how are
you going to get a one-byte LF on the CMline? And since you can't do that, what
alternative do you have to using a wildcard?

Now, if you're putting a 3-byte (phony) LF on the CMline (which neither puts
nor "replaces" a genuine LF), then that's a different kettle of fish...

What is that "R", exactly, in your command?
