Re: Xy and XML

I am a late comer to this group. The version of xywrite I use is the 1988
version - inherited from the atex, ( works from dos) where I know all the
commands ( f1 define text, f12 save, crtrll f6 word count etc).
Is there a newer version working from windows ( not that I am fan of bill
gates, in fact I hate all his software), or the updates versions as long as
they don't confuse my function keys?
There is NotaBene for Windows--it's based on XyWrite, but uses very
different keyboard assignments. But you can instruct it to load your old
.kbd file, no problem. But there are a few minor differences, and to
install NB and get it the way you like it is a little difficult, or was for me.
I use the newer version of Xy for DOS: XyWrite 4. It is an improvement
without changing (hardly) anything that you're familiar with from Xy 3+.
However, several people in this group just stick with Xy3+. You can run
that with Windows just fine--even cutting and pasting, by running it in a
window and using the icons on the border of said window.
Thanks
Adel
