One thing that Dick noted, and that the various replies don't seem
to take into account, is that his printer does fine with other
Windows apps. Only XyWin chokes. (Isn't that right, Dick?) On its
face, this suggests that the problem is not with the printer or the
system setup (insufficient RAM), but with XyWin. Also, the problem
is not so much that XyWin can't make the printer print, but that
it's unable to recognize the printer at all (make it the current or
default printer), ostensibly due to "insufficient memory". That
error message is a mystery. Does the Lexmark grab memory away from
XyWin just sitting there, with no print job pending? That seems
unlikely. But if true, doesn't it do the same with Dick's other,
uncomplaining Windows apps? I never thought of XyWin as a memory
hog. A puzzlement.
