Is anyone aware of a way in Windows 98 to redirect output from one LPT: port to another?
Alan, I forgot to mention a couple ideas.  I don't know if there are any Win-centric versions of the utilities I alluded to, but you could do a keyword search ("LPT"  "USB"  "redirect"  etc.) at major freeware / shareware archives like

http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/

or

http://www.zdnet.com/pcmag/utilities/

These two might ultimately go to the same place, since ZD owns PC Rag.  ... . .  but there are a number of others.

If, though, I could get Windows to automatically redirect all output from LPT1: to LPTUSB1, I'd be in business.
An unusual (additional) reserved device name like that must get initialized by some device driver at boot-time, I would guess.
